The Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager in overseeing store operations, ensuring store policies and standards are met, and providing excellent customer service across all product areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Establish action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist the Store Manager in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service as outlined in the customer service manual.
- Perform general administrative duties and be trained in Store Manager responsibilities.
- Offer extraordinary customer service, including assisting customers upon entrance and during peak periods, and promoting and selling merchandise.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as documented in the various manuals and memos.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management of potential fraud risks.
Supervises employees in the absence of the Store Manager, performing interviews, training, assigning tasks, and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1-3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
- Team-player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
