Responsibilities- Implements and maintains physical and virtual infrastructure and services.
- Collaborates with cross‑functional teams to ensure the scalability, availability, and security of the systems.
- Deploys physical and virtual solutions based on business requirements and leverages available technologies.
- Implements architecture strategies and standards to deliver optimal performance, security, and cost efficiency within guidelines.
- Applies and enforces security measures and best practices to protect systems and data.
- Participates in cross‑functional teams on systems management strategies.
- Builds and updates infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) scripts and templates to support automated deployments by using tools and Git repositories.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of operational policies, procedures, and documentation related to infrastructure.
- Identifies and resolves routine issues related to physical and virtual services, collaborating with Operations, Application teams, and vendors as needed.
- Participates in capacity planning, performance analysis, and system tuning activities.
- Proposes innovative solutions by staying current with infrastructure technology trends.
- Participates in on‑call rotation.
- Supports development teams by providing infrastructure engineering assistance for application deployment and integration.
- Performs other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field and three years’ experience in the application of infrastructure technologies with hands‑on experience in designing, implementing, and managing physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Certifications such as Red Hat Systems Engineer, Windows Administrator, or VMware Data Center Virtualization are preferred but not required; suitable combinations of education, training, or experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of infrastructure technologies including physical and virtual compute, rack and blade servers, DAS and SAN storage, physical and virtual network systems from vendors such as Supermicro, Dell, and CISCO.
- Proficiency with virtualization technologies and concepts, such as virtual machines (VMs), servers, storage, and compute management with common hypervisors such as VMware, KVM, Open Stack, or Nutanix AHV.
- Proficiency with the use of infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Bit Bucket, and Git.
- Ability to manage compute, storage, and network infrastructures, including CPU and memory controls, storage management, and system networking.
- Ability to manage, optimize, plan, and design infrastructure that uses Server Operating Systems such as Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Ubuntu, and related technologies such as Active Directory and DNS.
- Familiarity with security best practices and tools for cloud environments, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a physical and virtual environment.
- Ability to provide on‑call support twenty‑four hours a day, seven days a week.
- Basic scripting and automation skills using languages such as Python, Bash, or Power Shell, Ansible, Terraform, Bit Bucket, and Git.
- Solid communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
