SUMMARY:
To provide leadership to ensure that district technology staff and infrastructure support the school district’s mission, goals and learner profiles established by the Board of Education.
Other duties may be assigned.
- Develops and implements, evaluates and monitors short and long range plans for technology in the district including establishing and maintaining a sustainable, achievable, and clear cycle for device and infrastructure upgrades and replacement.
- Serves as administrative leader for the technology department and provides leadership and guidance to district leaders in areas of expertise.
- Provides for the cybersecurity of the district, leveraging expertise and resources for necessary training, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety of district data and infrastructure.
- Develops, updates, and makes recommendations as necessary for district policies related to technology along with maintaining procedural documentation.
- Facilitates the District Technology committee and communicates with the Board of Education, administration, and staff about media and technology in the district.
- Assists with district-wide planning by investigating and providing direction on innovative technologies and programming related to instructional and administrative functions.
- Collaborates with district and regional technology coordinators in the implementation of new instructional technologies and makes recommendations related to program and system design, improvements and operations.
- Serves as a district representative in the management of all district technology functions and benefits available relative to district and county meetings.
- Administers the selection process and acquisitions of hardware, software and other equipment purchases of the district, including installation in District facilities. Also administers the disposal of outdated printed materials and technology hardware and software according to Board and State policies.
- Uses a variety of assessment tools to understand the district’s technology needs and develops staff development activities and workshops in response to those needs and to evaluate the success of programs.
- Oversees the technology budget and works with the Director of Finance on budgeting and purchasing, including developing RFP’s for large equipment replacements, vendor interaction and presentations to the Board of Education.
- Administers federal and State budgets and grants and applies for and completes all technology/media related plans, grants and reports.
- Implements a plan to centralize inventory and maintains an accurate inventory of hardware, software and equipment.
- Oversees district equipment and network maintenance including performance of general maintenance and repair or arrangements for repair. Knowledge of virtual environments, switching/routing concepts, and firewalls.
Supervises, hires, evaluates, disciplines and determines duties of all members of the Media and Technology department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Bachelors degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Library Media Technology
- K-12 Administration or related field.
- Teacher certification, classroom experience, or experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Minimum of three years experience in computer science, educational technology or information technology related position preferred.
