Employer Compliance Officer
Conducts and participates in unemployment insurance tax enforcement programs in the Tax Division within OESC's Workforce Services Department; this tax division is responsible for administering the state unemployment insurance tax program mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor in accordance with federal & state law, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Review employer's tax documents and make statutory determinations on the employer's SUTA account.
- Counsel appropriate stakeholders on the interpretation of and compliance with the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission Act, Administrative Rules, and correct reporting procedures.
- Balance the tax accounting system to ensure all monies and charges are correctly posted to the taxpayer's account.
- Receive and analyze required employer documentation to ensure compliance with state law, agency & departmental procedures resolving issues of taxpayer's compliance with tax and wage reporting.
- Conduct tax division front-line work and front-line team work as needed with a wide variety of decision-making.
- Maintain the required safety and security protocols associated with the above-mentioned responsibilities.

- Knowledge of - a wide variety of different job titles or types of positions across the entire range of employment; spelling, punctuation, and business English; accounting principles and theories; financial statements; computer technology relating to accounting systems; modern office methods and procedures; and maintenance of complex records.
- Skill and Competencies – excellent verbal and written communication skills expressing ideas clearly and concisely.
- Ability to - write basic reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to perform highly independent work; participate with others as a contributing team member; conduct several projects simultaneously; handle confidential work; review and analyze financial information; analyze and resolve complex situations; serve as an expert witness in administrative hearings; make independent decisions; prioritize work independently; interpret and handle routine matters in accordance with agency policy;
follow oral and written instructions.
- Work is typically performed in the office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to noise levels determined by the office environment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to talk, stand, bend, walk, and reach with hands and arms requiring periods of sitting or standing and daily use of computer and phone. It also requires the occasional use of the office machinery in accordance with safety and security protocols.
- Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting professional level public administration, business, auditing, or accounting experience for each year of the required bachelor's degree.
- Computer Skills – Employee must be capable of proficiently using OESC's standard software (Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Teams), and the Internet, as well as proficiency to learn other software as needed.
- Employees must be capable of lifting, carrying, and moving objects of up to 25 pounds.
- Applicants must be willing and able to complete all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
- Prefer fluent in English and Spanish
