Profile Summary

The Joint Venture Lead Accountant, working independently with limited supervision, is responsible for conducting and documenting highly complex joint venture accounting projects, leading change initiatives, participating in continuous improvement efforts, managing financial risks in joint ventures, mentoring junior staff, evaluating and implementing prioritized strategies, and collaborating to enhance communication, optimize accounting processes, and ensure transparent audits within the JV Accounting function.

The role reviews reports on financial risks associated with the joint venture and designs mitigation strategies to support risk-informed decision-making. The role evaluates prioritized strategies, selects key initiatives for future implementation within the joint venture’s financial roadmap, ensuring alignment with collaborative goals and optimizing financial success. The role ensures adherence to control procedures and establishes new ones to uphold financial integrity and compliance within the JV accounting framework.

The role mentors junior staff and provides input on staff performance reviews, assuming supervision in the absence of management.

Job Description
  • Carries out complex projects independently, leads change efforts, participates in continuous improvement initiatives, establishes effective relationships, achieves strategic results using business acumen, and remediates data quality issues to optimize problem-solving across disciplines.
  • Coordinate acquisition, divestiture, and new venture activities within the accounting organization and across the business.
  • Serve as a resource across Finance, Tax & Accounting, overseeing complex projects, providing data collection and analysis, and interpreting contractual agreements.
  • Review reports on financial risks associated with the joint venture, strategize and design mitigation strategies, and support risk-informed decision-making.
  • Mentor junior staff, provide direction and guidance, assume supervision in the absence of management, and contribute to staff performance reviews.
  • Evaluate prioritized strategies, select key business process improvement initiatives for future implementation within the joint venture’s financial roadmap, ensuring alignment with goals and optimizing financial success.
  • Demonstrate initiative to seek additional responsibility and broader understanding of the big picture.
  • Enhance departmental communication and optimize accounting processes by collaborating with stakeholders to improve efficiency in joint venture financial management.
  • Ensure adherence to COPAS standards and GAAP, maintain control procedures, and establish new procedures to uphold financial integrity and compliance within the joint venture’s accounting framework.
  • Collaborate with Operations Accounting to gather information and manage joint venture financial processes effectively.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline and/or commensurate work experience required.
Experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in JV Accounting, Financial Analysis & Reporting, or related field. Industry experience preferred.
  • Process automation and optimization experience, including data analysis and/or automation software tools (e.g., PowerBI, Power Automate, Sigma, Alteryx) preferred.
Certifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
