Job Summary

The Lead Joint Venture Accountant works independently with limited supervision and manages complex joint venture accounting projects from start to finish. This role leads change initiatives, supports continuous improvement, implements prioritized strategies, and collaborates across the organization to improve communication and optimize accounting processes that support operations.

The role’s primary technical focus is enterprise-wide expenditure master data systems, processes, and integrations. These include SAP cost centers, cost center reporting hierarchies, and Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs).

The Lead JV Accountant ensures compliance with internal policies and control procedures and develops new controls to maintain financial integrity. The role also trains and mentors junior staff, provides guidance and development, assists management in leading the team, and contributes to employee performance reviews.

Job Description
  • Carries out complex projects independently, leads change efforts, participates in continuous improvement initiatives, establishes effective relationships, achieves strategic results using business acumen, and actively remediates data quality issues, optimizing problem-solving through multi-discipline knowledge.
  • Generates reports, evaluates and designs mitigation strategies to navigate potential challenges and supports risk-informed decision-making.
  • Mentors junior staff, offer direction, development, and guidance, assists management in leading the team, and provides input on staff performance reviews.
  • Evaluates prioritized strategies, choosing key business processes improvement initiatives for future implementation, ensuring alignment with collaborative goals and optimizing financial success.
  • Ensures adherence to COPAS standards, GAAP Accounting principles, and internal control procedures.
  • Collaborates with Operations and Accounting teams for seamless information gathering, ensuring effective management of joint venture financial processes, and also works closely with auditors during audits, providing documentation and insights for a smooth and transparent auditing process.
  • Enhances communication within the department and optimizes accounting processes by working with various stakeholders, fostering improved efficiency and cohesion in joint venture financial management.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or any other related discipline and/or commensurate work experience is required.
Experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably in areas such as JV Accounting, Financial Analysis & Reporting or a related field. Industry experience is preferred.
