The Human Resources Student Assistant will assist with various duties in Human Resources, including customer service, answering phones, onboarding paperwork, scanning and filing personnel records, and supporting HR staff as requested.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain filing in up-to-date order following HR filing procedures.
  • Prepare documents and files for electronic imaging.
  • Scan documents and file into the HR electronic imaging system and verify accuracy.
  • Make copies, sort and prepare materials for distribution as needed.
  • Serve as back‑up receptionist as needed: answer telephone and refer calls, greet, screen, and announce visitors.
  • Deliver information/materials to departments as required.
  • Assist with onboarding paperwork for new employees.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.
Qualifications
  • Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for Fall or Spring semesters, or 3 hours for Summer semester.
  • Alternatively, current OCCC student with a federal work‑study award.
  • Ability to work in an organized manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Positive communication and customer service skills.
  • Teamwork and interaction with customers in a positive manner.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or similar software.
  • Accurate spelling and filing skills.
  • High attention to detail.
Work Hours

As needed or assigned, not to exceed 25 hours per week. Any time between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Light work: occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent movement within the HR office and occasional campus travel.
  • Frequent communication with visitors, staff, and students; able to exchange accurate information.
  • Operate a computer and office equipment with repetitive hand and wrist motions.
  • Work in an indoor office setting.
