Up to $41,000 based on education and experience

Position Description

This position is responsible for helping customers seeking services and information at the county health department. This includes collecting all pertinent demographic and billing information from clients, answering phones, filing, appointment scheduling, data entry and responding to customer questions and needs.

  • Process WIC benefits
  • Coordinate with other departments
  • Collect and enter billing information

  • Perform light typing assignments
  • Provide general information to the public
  • File and maintain client records
  • Prepare program reports
  • Access and use the Oklahoma Health Care Authority Medicaid website daily to look up Medicaid eligibility, complete online applications, and reinstate expired coverage
  • Maintain various records (perpetual inventories, statements of expenditures), reconcile departmental records with central records, prepare correspondence, forms, and reports
  • Initiate and handle correspondence related to special fields or programs regarding agency rules, policies, procedures, or requirements
  • Perform sorting and filing tasks
  • Take messages and disseminate information
  • Open, sort, distribute, collect, and deliver mail
  • Perform posting and recording data tasks
  • Enter and retrieve information using a personal computer or other data processing equipment; review coded and uncoded source documents; proof data and make routine corrections
  • Examine, check, and verify reports and other documents for completeness, appropriateness, adequacy, and conformity to established requirements; follow up on discrepancies
  • Receive or deliver materials and equipment
  • Travel required; cover two health department sites and district wide if needed
  • Be present at the office as an essential function
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including demonstrating knowledge of mission, vision, values, standards, policies, procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior; work effectively in a team environment, assist peers
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in clerical office work
  • Three years of experience in customer service, processing tax returns, bookkeeping, or closely related work; or as a customer service representative plus three years of experience in customer service
