Principal Secretary
Position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Principal(s). Essential duties include preparing correspondence, brochures, forms, and material orders for the Principal as directed. The role involves receiving and routing all incoming mail, handling maintenance requests, preparing Worker's Compensation claim documentation, acting as a timekeeper for staff, maintaining the Principal's calendar, managing substitute teacher sign-ins, distributing classroom keys, and distributing medications when no nurse is present.
The Principal Secretary also answers phones, greets and screens visitors, makes copies, and performs other clerical duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, plus one of the following: holding an associate's degree or higher, completing at least two years of college study, passing the OGET test, or passing the Education Testing Service Parapro Assessment Test or the Workkeys Assessment. Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and clerical techniques is required, along with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Working knowledge of AESOP and SAP is preferred, as is excellent computer skills involving the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to efficiently edit memos, tests, and other instructional documents, establish and maintain effective working relationships, follow complex instructions, and work independently is essential. Ability to serve as a team member in a collaborative department suite is also required.
Physical/mental requirements include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids, hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone, speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly, and possess physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk, and reach.
Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.
