STRABAG UK is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Build Division, supporting the delivery of a large‑scale high‑rise build project in the Lincoln area.
Responsibilities- Deliver commercial leadership from pre‑construction through to final account, ensuring value, quality and efficiency.
- Work closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners to manage risk, cost control and financial success.
- Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team.
- Ensure site team adherence to group procedures and governance.
- Lead onboarding and development of junior staff, including training needs, performance management, coaching and mentoring.
- Participate in Project Kick‑Off meetings and contribute to the production and maintenance of the Project Execution Plan.
- Prepare internal commercial reporting, support monthly project reviews and other required reports.
- Prepare valuations, payment applications and cost reports in accordance with contract requirements.
- Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules, and issue Sub‑Contract and Consultant Appointments.
- Coordinate with Design Manager and Project Manager on design cost impacts and value engineering.
- Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts, monitoring requisitions, approvals and final accounts.
- Handle contract administration, change management, notices, and maintain registers.
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and changes.
- Maintain accurate site records and implement WBS structure per Client & contract.
- Lead risk and opportunity workshops, feeding a real‑time Risk and Opportunity Schedule.
- Negotiate and agree change events, extensions, final accounts.
- Measure quantities according to Standard Methods of Measurement.
- Manage client and insurance related issues; ensure proper notifications and requirements.
- Maximise cash position through WIP control, cash flow production and improvement plans.
- Monitor cost and value in real time, provide detailed forecasts and margin improvement plan.
- Procure PCG, bonds and warranties as required.
- Resolve Sub‑Contractor and Supplier disputes, and assist in Client dispute management.
- Support business development activities, including technical writing for PQQ responses.
- Undertake any other duties required by line manager.
- Registered with RICS/ICES and working towards Chartered status.
- Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor in the UK construction industry.
- Strong commercial acumen; excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
- Experienced with JCT forms and other construction contracts.
- Computer literate with advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience working with a Design & Build contractor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Knowledge of programming techniques, project controls, risk analysis, contract administration, procurement, cost and claims.
