Job Description

The Superintendent plays a pivotal role in planning, managing, and executing all facets of assigned projects, ensuring timely and profitable completion. Responsible for managing materials, equipment, and personnel, they provide direct supervision, leadership, and guidance to employees and subcontractors, facilitating planning, coordination, and execution to meet project goals. With a focus on maximizing project profits, the Superintendent oversees field operations, directly supervising the labor force and upholding high standards of workmanship.

Strong leadership, organizational, time management, communication, and client service skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop project schedules and budgets, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Thoroughly familiarize oneself with project plans, specifications, contracts, and all relevant documents.
  • Select appropriate methods and acquire necessary equipment for project execution.
  • Enforce company safety policies, organizing safety meetings, and ensuring compliance among employees and supervisors.
  • Manage workforce by hiring or terminating workers as necessary to maintain safety, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all documentation, including safety reports, payroll, and labor unit reports.
  • Conduct meetings with subordinates, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to communicate, coordinate, and direct work effectively.
  • Approve or reject invoices and expenses, verifying coding accuracy on all financial documents.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors on job direction and company policies.
  • Inspect work performed by employees and subcontractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Ensure jobsite compliance with all federally mandated equal employment opportunity policies and non-discriminatory laws and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision, with a proven track record of successfully managing commercial construction projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage onsite teams and communicate with project stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of construction processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools, such as Procore or Microsoft Project.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed.
