Job Description
What you will be doing:- Prepare detailed cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and review project drawings and specifications.
- Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
- Develop and manage scopes of work for all construction trades.
- Prepare material pricing summaries and maintain estimate documentation.
- Utilize project schedules, logistics, and construction sequencing to develop accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with operations and field teams to identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support project logistics, staging, phasing, procurement presentations, and bid-day activities.
- Prepare professional estimate deliverables and maintain complete audit trails.
- Mentor junior estimators and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience (5+ years of overall construction experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, trade scopes, labor productivity, and general requirements.
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing comprehensive cost estimates.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience building strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Ideal Candidate:
Proven experience estimating commercial construction projects, strong understanding of construction means and methods across multiple trades, detail-oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills, collaborative team player who can work effectively with operations, field teams, subcontractors, and clients, passionate about delivering accurate estimates while identifying opportunities to improve project profitability.
