General DescriptionThe DCP Cinematography/Production Design Lab Assistant will provide assistance to DCP Cinematography instructors and Production Design instructor and Program Coordinator by maintaining open lab hours for student use of equipment.
Reports ToNA
EligibilityCurrent OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 hours for the Summer semester
OR
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
AND
Must have successfully completed at least 6 hours of DCP classes, including DCP 1214 Cinematography I.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Working knowledge of proper use and technique of camera, grip, electric, and lighting equipment.
- Must be able to communicate and work well with others.

Frequently move about the classroom, film sets, and DCP Video Editing and Sound recording labs to assist students and perform essential functions.

PositionSpecific Duties
- Assist students in the proper use and technique of camera, grip, electric, and lighting equipment during labs for Cinematography 1 & 2.
- Ensure inventory for labs is checked out and returned to equipment room correctly for checkout to other students.
- Assist in the scene shop during in-class labs, to ensure safety of all students using power tools, etc.
- Be available to help students during capstones and other projects for the cinematography/production design/directing courses requiring sets to be constructed on the sound stage.
- Maintain posted lab hours and log‑in/log‑out procedure for use of DCP equipment and labs.
- As needed work in the capacity of a filmmaker to include camera operator, sound, lighting and grip, and any other position required on set.
- Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
