Position: Chair, School of Business, Full-Time Faculty

This faculty member will serve as Chair of the School of Business with teaching responsibilities for both undergraduate and graduate courses online and in person. Professional and teaching excellence, a Christian lifestyle, and continued research in the field are expected. Instruction should be characterized by technology integration, innovation, student-centered learning, and an ability to engage industry in the classroom.

The Chair functions as the chief administrator of the School and the primary liaison between the School and administration. Additional responsibilities include supervision of full-time faculty, strategic planning, budgeting, program assessment, advisement of students, and administrative duties related to the leadership of the School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direction and vision for the School of Business
  • Prepare and administer the annual budget for the School
  • Prepare and implement the annual strategic plan for the School
  • Supervise full-time program directors and faculty of the School
  • Oversee the hiring process for program directors, full-time faculty, and part-time faculty for the School
  • Direct the assessment of student learning plan for the School including:
    • Compliance with MACU assessment policies and practices
    • Annual planning of assessment of student learning
    • Analysis of assessment data
    • Identification and implementation of interventions to address issues raised by assessment data
    • Regular reporting of assessment and intervention information to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Address student and instructor issues in the School of Business
  • Coordinate the scheduling of Business courses in collaboration with the Dean of Academic Instruction
  • Teach in the School of Business
  • Conduct regular faculty development for full- and part-time faculty in the School
  • Work with program directors and Curriculum Services personnel in the development of curriculum for courses in the program

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Expertise in the discipline
  • Strong organizational and teaching skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team to coordinate and support programs within the School and University
  • Ability to employ appropriate technology and best practices in teaching both traditional and adult learners
  • Adherence to the Christian mission and policies of the University

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Doctoral degree in business or a related field, most preferably in Finance and/or Economics
  • Record of effective academic administrative experience and successful collaboration with external partners
  • Experience or familiarity with the business school accreditation process (ACBSP or AACSB)
  • Teaching experience (minimum of 3 years recommended)
  • Industry experience (minimum of 3 years recommended)
