Job Title:
Summer Camp Instructional Assistant
Salary Structure: $20.00 per hour
Position
Contract:
Temporary Part-Time, 5 15 days, 7 hours per day
The summer camp, which is known as Tech Trek, will be Monday through Friday during June.
General Description:
Metro Technology Centers is accepting applications for a Summer Camp Instructional Assistant who will be responsible for assisting the Camp Instructor with the education and supervision of the students in his/her charge by facilitating engaging and educational experiences for camp participants, helping students explore various career paths and gain insights into potential future professions, and developing and implementing curriculum, leading hands-on activities, and fostering a positive learning environment.
General Qualification Requirements:
Education/
Experience:
* Completed at least 400 hours in one CTE career major program
* Experience working with kids, preferred
(Above requirements may be met by equivalent combination of education and experience)
Representative Duties:
1. Assists with supervising classroom and ensures campers safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general wellbeing.
2. Attends required orientation and training sessions made available prior to summer camp start date to ensure expectations are understood and followed.
3. Assists instructor with planning and preparing instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences in the classroom or laboratory/shop that engages students aged 10-14 for a week of summer camp.
4. Reinforces the established objectives for all lessons and/or projects and communicates those objectives to students.
5. Assist monitoring students in the use of learning materials, equipment and technology.
6. Observes student progress and/or performance in all educational settings.
7. Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students by providing feedback.
8. Provides support, encouragement and advisement to students with academic challenges.
9. Communicates effectively with instructor, employees, students, and families.
10. Assists maintaining individual program inventory of items.
11. Demonstrates, encourages and maintains safe conditions throughout the shop and classroom areas, cooperating fully with the District and campus safety committees and appropriate authorities.
12. Upholds the policies and procedures of the Board of Education and supports the organizational management philosophy of the District. Works cooperatively and in harmony with co-workers and other District employees.
13. Demonstrates dedication to working with students in an objective and fair manner regardless of handicap, race, sex, national origin, age, or socio-economic background, refraining absolutely and entirely from sexual harassment and exploitation; follows the standards of conduct and performance as adopted by the State Board of Education.
14. Demonstrates the ability to read, speak clearly and deliver presentations; ability to operate instructional equipment; and ability to move around the classroom.
15. Performs related duties as assigned.
