PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares for classroom activities under supervision of certified teacher.
  • Performs clerical duties for assigned teacher.
  • Assists teacher with instructional classroom duties.
  • Assists the students in physical/academic environments outside the classroom when applicable.
  • Grades papers, helps with records when called upon to do so.
  • Assists with an individual child's particular needs when called upon to do so.
  • Maintains all confidentially requirements for students.
  • Works cooperatively with the special education teacher/general education teacher in the implementation of the instructional program.
  • Works to help children develop positive feelings about themselves and school.
  • Serves as model in developing children's language and behavior.
  • Assists in preparing for instruction by collecting and arranging resource materials, preparing visual and other teaching aids, arranging field trips, etc.
  • Provides instructional support by maintaining records, scoring, processing and distributing books and supplies, collecting money and/or cleaning and storing materials.
  • Assists a substitute teacher in the same manner that the regular teacher would be assisted.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Abides by all district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures.
  • Performs such other tasks as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs.
    • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
    • Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.
    • Ability to support and stabilize students with physical disabilities.
