Salary Range: *$62,677 - **$73,807

Primary Function Of Position

Coordinates and provides planning, delivery of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to prepare students for a certification in sterile processing, and for providing related services and support activities required for optimal student learning and effective educational programming. Accountable for meeting the instructional and curricular requirements of the program.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teaches Pre‑Surgical Technology program curriculum using individualized competency‑based instructional materials that have been developed and district approved.
  • Develops and revises curriculum materials that meets or exceeds the course scope and sequence required to meet program objectives and complies with the district's instructional framework, healthcare industry, and accreditation standards. Effectively integrated industry‑based learning into the curricula.
  • Organizes and provides engaging, student‑centered, hands‑on instruction and supervision in the classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical setting to promote an effective program of learning.
  • Teaches all courses as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
  • Oversees program calendar management.
  • In conjunction with the Testing and Clinical Coordinator, develops clinical facility partnerships, clinical rotations, and a clinical course schedule.
  • Be fully prepared with instructional plans for each class session and in accord with the program courses stated objectives.
  • In conjunction with the department staff and administration, maintains a current copy of the signed clinical affiliation agreements as approved by the Board of Education.
  • Supervises and evaluates students in partnered healthcare facilities.
  • In conjunction with the Testing and Clinical Coordinator collects and maintains student files with enrollment information, drug screening and immunization records as required for clinical rotations.
  • Instructs students in safety procedures necessary for the safe operation of equipment and the care of materials, supplies, furniture, and facilities.
  • Provides instruction and supervision in the classroom and skills laboratory.
  • Maintains accurate student records including attendance, grades, disciplinary action, follow‑up reports, and academic progress using school approved methods and tools and as required by district and state within identified timeframe.
  • Coordinates the student entrance process including orientation of students.
  • Coordinates the student exit process including certification exam applications.
  • Assists with student recruitment by attending Career Experiences, Extravaganza events, partner school events, Information Nights, and assisting with on‑site tour groups.
  • Participates in the school's Pathway to Excellence initiative to prepare students to be career ready. Assesses student achievement by interpreting multiple data sources, attends team meetings, and implements various evaluation strategies. Completes annual follow‑up reports as required by the district.
  • Explores innovation and/or future technologies/trends in the healthcare industry and maintains contact with the community to keep in touch with job‑entry requirements and current trends in health care.
  • Establishes clinical sites for student clinical rotations and preceptor responsibilities.
  • Maintains regular parent contact with high school students to discuss progress and how best to assist student's needs.
  • Recruits and maintains an active program Advisory Committee to ensure positive business and industry relationships, training experiences, and program marketability, and attends meetings twice each year.
