Reports To: Principal

Supervises: Teacher aide and volunteers assigned

Job Goal: To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Guides learning toward achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects to communicate goals to students.
• Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Assesses student accomplishments regularly, seeking assistance of district specialists as required.
• Counsels with colleagues, students and/or parents regularly.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, maintains order fairly and justly.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistants/volunteers; evaluates performance cooperatively with department heads.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Ten-month year. Salary and work year to be according to the current schedule.

Performance will be evaluated annually for tenured and semi-annually for evaluation of professional personnel.
