Job Description

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

EPIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively participate in the success of Epic Charter School.
  • Adhere to laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards of Epic Charter School as well as federal and state education regulations.
  • Participate fully in professional development for facilitators, including Professional Learning Communities and technological training.
  • Attend school activities.
MAINTAINING ORGANIZATIONAL HEALTH OF EPIC’S RELATED SERVICE DEPARTMENT
  • Facilitate relationships with partner agencies.
  • Assist in the assignment of related service providers to meet students’ needs.
  • Develop departmental best practices and training pieces to support those practices for the organization as a whole.
  • Communicate e?ectively with administrators to coordinate activities and programs.
  • Work collaboratively with other professional sta? members in assessing and maintaining students’ educational growth.
WORKING WITH YOUR STUDENTS
  • Administer appropriate assessments when given referrals Provide evaluation reports (for an educational setting).
  • Conduct/attend IEP and MEEG meetings and address IEP paperwork within a timely manner so as to remain in compliance with the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
  • Provide therapy services according to IEP's (in person, online, monitoring, and/or consulting).
  • Communicate with families and sta? regarding students and speech services Monitor compliance for his/her assigned caseload.
  • Be available as a resource to parents, teachers and other professionals working toward the educational well-being of your students.
  • Prepare testing accommodation information for timely reports Attend Professional Learning Communities held once a month.
  • Maintain documentation of student progress and tracking documents to show student growth.
  • Be an adult advocate for assigned students Report suspected child abuse/neglect.
CONTINUING EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT
  • Stay current with relevant research and trends as required to improve academic achievement.
  • Understand school resources.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-elected professional growth activities.
Qualifications
  • Advanced understanding of special education compliance.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and demonstrates leadership abilities.
  • Ability to build e?ective relationships, work collaboratively and gain credibility quickly to instill con?dence of teaching ability.
  • Strong decision making, organizational, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills Use e?ective positive interpersonal communication skills.
  • Resolve issues and con?licts.
  • Strong technology skills in up-to-date computer software including Zoom, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Current on new instructional technologies.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others Demonstrates self-discipline and initiative.
  • Passionate commitment to the mission of school choice.
  • Ability to maintain professional con?dentiality and comply with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from families or members of the business community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers, both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic math and accounting skills required.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and the Google Suite with the ability to manage multiple computer screens.
