Position
Professor, Psychology – Liberal Arts & Sciences Division, Rose State College.
Description of DutiesPrimarily responsible for teaching 15 credit hours per semester of introductory psychology and other lower‑division psychology courses. Teaching formats include traditional classroom, fully online, and flex‑hybrid settings. Work also involves teaching concurrent high‑school classes on high‑school campuses and via distance education. The position reports to the Division Dean and requires a minimum of 27½ hours per week on campus, including office hours and other college‑related duties.
Responsibilities include maintaining professional relationships, delivering effective instruction, maintaining records per college and division policies, participating in community service, collaborating on new program and course development, and fostering transfer relationships with four‑year institutions and micro‑credential offerings.
- Master’s degree in psychology or an equivalent doctoral degree plus 18 graduate hours in psychology.
- At least two years of recent experience teaching college‑level psychology.
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with flexible delivery methods, MS Office (Word and Outlook), video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, and Learning Management Systems such as Canvas.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs, ride a vehicle if necessary, and perform routine standing, walking, kneeling, and bending.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Doctoral degree in psychology with a developmental emphasis and/or counseling/clinical focus and experience in mental health practice.
- Four years of recent experience teaching college‑level psychology courses at a community college.
- At least one year of experience teaching psychology classes in a high‑school or concurrent high‑school program.
Candidate selected will serve a probationary period. All finalists may be subject to a background check and/or drug test.
