An adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) has the primary responsibility of instruction at high school locations (concurrent) or on‑campus (in‑person, hybrid or Zoom) where courses are facilitated. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of OCCC.
Responsibilities- Provide quality instruction in courses including SPAN 1115 Elementary Spanish I and SPAN 1225 Elementary Spanish II.
- Prepare course objectives, relevant class activities, effective presentations of learning materials, fair grading practices, and timely responses to students.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment.
- Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department.
- Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, department, division, and College administrators.
- Attend required meetings.
- Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline.
- Maintain license or professional certification specific to program requirements.
- Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed special assignments.
- Support the College’s vision, mission, goals, and priorities.
- Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in Spanish or related area.
- Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
- Ability to teach courses at high school locations, and/or on‑campus (in‑person, hybrid or Zoom).
- Committed to helping students achieve their goals and attain a college education.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (e.g., Moodle).
- Organization and attention to detail.
- Support and willingness to teach in a competency‑based instructional system.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
- Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.
- Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner.
- Ability to read and understand content to assist students when they have difficulty interpreting concepts.
- Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.
- Be available for office hours and provide means of communication with supervisors and/or department or division office.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
- Experience teaching Spanish at the high school or college level.
As needed or assigned, the position involves sedentary work with occasional exertion up to 10 pounds, frequent movement throughout the classroom, repetitive computer use, and indoor classroom or office setting.
