An adjunct faculty member’s primary responsibility is instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division and the College.
RequirementsGraduate level qualification:
Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Visual Art or related field.
- Knowledge of art history, art processes, and concepts relevant to foundation level visual arts courses.
- Ability to compose and administer exams and writing assignments.
- Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
- Committed to helping students achieve their educational goals.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (such as Moodle).
- Organization and attention to detail.
- Support and willingness to teach in a competency-based instructional system.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
- Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.
- Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and understand content to assist students when interpreting concepts.
- Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.
- Availability for office hours and providing means of communication with supervisor(s) and/or the department or division office.
- Punctuality and reliability.
Classroom instruction requires frequent movement within the classroom, frequent communication with colleagues, students and staff, computer use, and general office duties. The position involves occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.
Work occurs in an indoor environment (classroom or office setting).
Job Duties- Provide quality instruction in foundation level visual arts courses, including clear objectives, prepared class activities, engaging presentations, fair grading practices, timely student responses, and a positive classroom atmosphere.
- Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department.
- Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and College administrators.
- Attend required meetings.
- Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline.
- Maintain license or professional certification specific to program requirements.
- Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments.
- Support the College’s vision, mission, goals and priorities.
Adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety protocols of the Board of Regents and Oklahoma City Community College. Participate in health and safety training and emergency drills.
