Position SummaryAs a Lead Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children. You’ll be responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, mentoring classroom staff, and building strong relationships with families. Additionally, you’ll ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and center policies to maintain the highest standards of care and education.
Key Responsibilities Classroom Leadership- Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming classroom atmosphere.
- Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, aides, and volunteers.
- Organize classroom materials and maintain a clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment.
- Observe and assess children’s developmental progress and maintain accurate records.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
- Encourage creativity, independence, and positive social interactions.
- Build strong, positive relationships with families.
- Provide regular updates on children’s development and classroom activities.
- Conduct parent conferences and address concerns professionally.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with state early learning standards.
- Incorporate hands‑on learning experiences across all developmental domains.
- Continuously evaluate and improve curriculum effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all childcare licensing regulations and center policies.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe classroom environment.
- Supervise children indoors and outdoors, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Model professionalism and positive teaching practices.
- Train and mentor new classroom staff.
- Collaborate with administration and other teachers to enhance program quality.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or Certificate of Mastery.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Background check and fingerprint clearance as required by state regulations.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a licensed childcare or early childhood education setting.
- Classroom leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development principles.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Effective leadership and team‑building abilities.
- Strong communication skills to build relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Proficiency with classroom documentation and basic computer applications.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the day.
- Actively supervise children indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Indoor and outdoor childcare setting with frequent interaction with children, families, and staff.
- May require flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the center.
