Job PurposeThe Daycare Teacher Assistant at the COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY OF OKLAHOMA will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This role is essential in assisting with the implementation of daily activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the lead teacher in planning and executing educational activities and curriculum designed to promote physical, social, and intellectual growth.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Support the lead teacher in maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
- Help prepare materials and resources needed for daily activities and special projects.
- Monitor and document children's progress and behavior, reporting observations to the lead teacher.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on children's activities and progress.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Assist with the preparation and serving of snacks and meals, adhering to dietary guidelines and health standards.
- Respond to children's needs promptly and with sensitivity, fostering a supportive and caring atmosphere.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting.
- Experience in assisting lead teachers with classroom management and lesson planning is preferred.
- Familiarity with child development principles and practices.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to support the educational and developmental needs of children.
- Demonstrated patience, creativity, and a nurturing attitude towards children.
- Capability to maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Basic understanding of first aid and CPR is advantageous.
- Proficiency in maintaining records and documentation related to children's progress and activities.
