This is not a teaching position. This is a motivation role.
If refusing to accept 99% completion makes you uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If that standard energizes you—because maintaining high expectations is how you demonstrate belief in a student s capability—continue reading.
Alpha students complete their academic work through AI-driven applications. No traditional lectures or textbooks are involved. Half of your day is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics like public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. The remaining half is dedicated to 1:1 and small-group sessions where you use Coachbot analytics to monitor student progress and drive every learner toward 100% completion of weekly app objectives.
Workshops provide a framework, but top performers in this role modify existing sessions and create new content when needed.
Success in a quarter means every student in your cohort completes their weekly app targets, passes the Test2
Pass for all life-skills workshops, and 90%+ report that they value your coaching. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role is not being fulfilled. In your first year, you will internalize the playbook; once you demonstrate your ability to maintain standards, you become eligible for the Lead Guide track, where you mentor new hires while continuing direct work with students.
If you prefer traditional classroom teaching, want ready-made lesson plans, or see warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position will not suit you. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performance work that commanded the attention of young children, the final stage before an offer is a full on-campus day coaching actual Alpha students.
If that prospect excites you most, submit your application today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts on subjects including public speaking, focus, and feedback, modifying the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify unmet needs
- Conducting daily 1:1 and small-group motivation sessions that drive every student to 100% completion of weekly app objectives, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha s incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your individual relationship with each student to overcome resistance
- Administering Test2
Pass (Alpha s mastery-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who do not pass until they achieve mastery - Tailoring your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversations and accountability
- Serving as the adult who maintains high standards while also being someone students trust and want to engage with; warmth creates the foundation for pushing students, and pushing demonstrates your belief in their potential
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering whiteboard lectures; academic content is embedded in the applications, not delivered by you
- Creating curriculum from the ground up; you activate an existing playbook through energy and narrative
- Passively monitoring students while they work on computers; motivation in this context is active, individualized, and persistent
- Reducing weekly targets to make them easier for students to reach; when a…
