Curriculum Coordinator - Secondary Math

The Curriculum Coordinator supports increased student achievement and facilitates the transition to, and implementation of, rigorous and relevant standards in Mathematics for secondary school students. Essential duties include providing leadership in assigned curriculum, instruction, and assessment to teachers and building principals, providing instructional support for the implementation of the Art and Science of Teaching instructional model, and coordinating the curriculum to ensure rigor and consistency from grade to grade and from building to building.

The role also involves mentoring new teachers, serving as a content expert for all teachers in the subject, planning and conducting staff development as appropriate for teachers, supporting and providing technology training to enhance instruction, and modeling current research-based practices in meetings and classrooms.

Additionally, the Curriculum Coordinator assesses the overall effectiveness of the curriculum, initiates and directs improvements in the programs, provides assistance and guidance in the selection of instructional materials and methods, interfaces with AP coordinator, AP teachers, vertical team members, principals, and other staff to successfully implement the AP program, including AVID, and communicates with and obtains feedback from students, teachers, and administrators in a manner that enhances student learning.

The position also includes working with instructional facilitators to promote curriculum alignment and focus, facilitating the Curriculum Advisory Committee, sharing accountability for the improvement of student achievement, assisting with procedures pertaining to remediation and intervention programs, leading data reviews, including data analysis and determination of appropriate interventions for students, recommending staff development based on the needs of the individual schools, and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include a Masters' Degree in Mathematics or Curriculum/Instruction, five (5) years of related experience and/or training, commitment to raise student achievement, evidence of successful leadership at the grade level, building level, or district level, evidence of strong written communication and presentation skills, knowledge of standards, curriculum mapping, and vertical articulation support, experience in conducting staff development, experience in mentoring/coaching other teachers, knowledge of best practices and current research in successful programs, curriculum, effective instructional strategies, and assessment practices, and knowledge of appropriate applications of technology.

Preferred qualifications include relevant experience that may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Physical/mental requirements include adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on a computer, adequate visual acuity to read, interpret, and transcribe written material and perform other required duties, a normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone, some stooping, bending, stretching, and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds, sitting for prolonged periods of time, and the ability to periodically require work outside normal business hours, including weekends, and sometimes under stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

Work environment includes office duties performed in a well-lighted, climate-controlled environment, requiring time in the office, as well as external meeting locations with community partners or schools throughout the OKC metro area, and may require participation in meetings and activities outside of normal business hours, including weekends and holidays, and the ability to bend and stoop, lift 25lbs, stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
