General Description

An adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division and the College as a whole.

Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibility of instruction.
  • Supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division and the College.
  • Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and College administrators.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline.
  • Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments.
  • Support the College’s vision, mission, goals, and priorities.
  • Teach courses:
    Introduction to Economics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Statistics for Business and Economics.
  • Abide by Board of Regents and College policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to a safe educational and working environment.
  • Adhere to established safety and health procedures and participate in emergency drills and health and safety training.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Economics or a related field with 18 graduate hours in business/economics.
  • Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.
  • Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Committed to helping students achieve their goals and attain a college education.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs such as Mine Online and Moodle.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Support and willingness to teach in a competency-based instructional system.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • Ability to work well as a team member within an instructional unit.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand content to assist students when they have difficulty interpreting concepts.
  • Ability to interact effectively and encouragingly with students individually and in groups.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions

The position requires occasional exertion up to 50 pounds and frequent exertion up to 20 pounds (or 10 pounds) to move objects. It involves frequent communication with students, faculty, and staff; movement around the classroom; standing for extended periods; operating a computer; and performing visual acuity tasks. Work may be conducted both indoors and outdoors.

Work Hours

Day, evening, and/or weekend as required by section assignment. Duties may be performed on‑campus or online, and may include teaching at high schools as concurrent enrollment demands.
