Job Description & How to Apply Below

The greatest act of support for a student who reaches 99% of their weekly target is to refuse to call it sufficient. Not out of callousness, but because you know they are capable of crossing the finish line—and accepting less is the true disservice.

You are not here to teach traditional academics. At Alpha, students master core subjects through AI-driven adaptive learning platforms. No lectures. No textbooks. No whiteboard instruction. Motivation and life skills - the elements typical schools relegate to the sidelines - are the center of your work.

Consider a typical Tuesday. You spend half the day facilitating one-hour workshops for a K-8 cohort covering public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback exchange. The other half, you work directly with those same students in one-on-one or small-group sessions, analyze their Coachbot data, and guide each toward 100% completion of their weekly app objectives, leveraging school currency, leaderboards, and the trust you've cultivated to overcome hesitation.

Your quarterly success hinges on three metrics: every student in your cohort completes their weekly app goals, every student passes the Test2

Pass mastery assessment for each workshop, and 90% or more report that they love you. Fall short on any single metric, and you've missed the mark.

The reward comes the day a student who spent September convinced they couldn't do math asks you to increase their target.

This is a full-time, on-site position at one of Alpha's campuses. We hire nationally, so job postings may appear in nearby cities where we do not yet operate a campus.

Current openings at this compensation level are in Scottsdale, AZ;
Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK;
Nashville, TN;
Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, Houston, and Brownsville, TX;
Springfield, MA; and Park City, UT.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts addressing public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback exchange
  • Conducting daily 1:1 and small-group motivation sessions to guide every student to 100% completion of their weekly app goals, leveraging Coachbot analytics and Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards)
  • Delivering the Test2

    Pass mastery assessment for each life skill, then re-coaching students who do not pass until mastery is achieved
  • Refining the workshop playbook and creating new sessions as needed, ensuring content resonates equally with kindergarteners and 8th graders
  • Serving as both the adult who upholds the standard and the adult your students actively choose to confide in
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Delivering whiteboard lectures, creating math and reading lesson plans, or grading homework; academic instruction is handled by the apps
  • Leading standardized test preparation or being held accountable for class-wide test performance
  • Managing parent conferences, emails, and complaints; campus leadership manages all parent-facing communication
  • Controlling 30 students simultaneously; cohorts are small and behavior management here is 1:1 coaching
  • Passively supervising students at computers; motivation here is active and relational
Youth Mentor

Key Responsibilities

Ensure every student in your K-8 cohort completes their weekly learning objectives, achieves mastery in each life skill, and finishes the year reporting they loved school.

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject

  • Comfortable allowing adaptive learning software to handle academic instruction while you focus on motivation and life-skills coaching
  • A documented history of high achievement—academic, athletic, or professional that has made maintaining rigorous standards a natural practice rather than an affectation
  • Stage presence capable of commanding the attention of a room of 12-year-olds for an hour…
