Youth Development, Tutoring, Education Administration, Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional
The most helpful thing you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their weekly target is to insist they finish. Not out of indifference, but because you know they can meet the standard, and lowering it represents the true failure.
You are not a classroom teacher. At Alpha, academic learning happens through AI-driven adaptive platforms. No lectures. No textbooks. No whiteboard instruction. Motivation and life skills—the components traditional schools typically relegate to the sidelines—are your entire focus here.
Imagine a typical Tuesday. Half your time is spent facilitating one-hour workshops for a K-8 group covering public speaking, focus, and how to deliver and accept genuine feedback. The remaining half involves sitting with those same students individually or in small clusters, reviewing their Coachbot data, and guiding each one to 100% completion of their weekly app targets, leveraging school currency, leaderboards, and the trust you've established to overcome resistance.
Your quarterly performance hinges on three metrics: every student in your cohort completes their weekly app targets, every student passes the Test2
Pass mastery assessment for each workshop, and 90% or more report that they love you. Falling short on any one of these three means missing the mark.
The reward is the moment a student who insisted in September that they were terrible at math asks you to increase their goal.
This is a full-time, on-site position at one of Alpha's campus locations. We recruit nationally, so job boards may list this opportunity in nearby cities that do not yet have a campus.
Current openings for this compensation level are available in Scottsdale, AZ;
Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK;
Nashville, TN;
Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, Houston, and Brownsville, TX;
Springfield, MA; and Park City, UT.
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 groups covering public speaking, focus, and delivering and receiving feedback
- Conducting daily 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions that guide every student to 100% completion of their weekly app targets, using Coachbot data and Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards)
- Delivering the Test2
Pass mastery assessment for each life skill, then re-coaching any student who does not pass until mastery is achieved - Adjusting the workshop playbook, and creating new sessions when you identify a need, so the same content resonates with both a kindergartener and an 8th grader
- Serving as both the adult who maintains the standard and the adult your students want to confide in
- Delivering instruction at a whiteboard, creating math and reading lesson plans, or grading assignments; academic content is delivered through the apps
- Conducting standardized test preparation or being accountable for a class-wide test score
- Managing parent conferences, emails, and concerns; campus leadership handles all parent-facing communication
- Managing behavior for 30 students simultaneously; cohorts are small and behavior support here is 1:1 coaching
- Monitoring kids at computers; motivation work here is active and interpersonal
Key Responsibilities
