Successfully completed ENGL 1113 (English Composition I) or equivalent and ENGL 1213 (English Composition II) or equivalent with a final grade of B or above

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Sedentary work:
The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :
This position requires the person to frequently move about the lab to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, and staff to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position frequently requires the person to operate and inspect a computer and other Communications Lab equipment to assist and/or instruct students on proper operation.
3. VISUAL ACUITY :
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor lab, classroom, or office setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Tutoring experience or experience working in an environment of higher education.

Flexible hours during the time the Writing Center is open, Monday through Saturday.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
- Assist students in individualized exercises performed in the Writing Center.
- Provide writing assistance to students through the Writing Center’s online tutoring program.
- Reinforce classroom instruction by providing supplemental academic support and clarification of course materials and assignments.
- Support faculty and students in the use of computers, computer learning programs, and educational resources.
- Assist in simple cleaning of center carrels, tables, desks, computer keyboards, and computer screens, as directed by the supervisor.
- Provide information to faculty regarding student progress and center use by filling out tutoring form.
- Participate in and assist with tutor training programs.
- Perform miscellaneous filing and other clerical duties for the Writing Center center.
- Conduct tours of the Writing Center and in-class presentations as needed.
