This child care scholarship administrator is responsible for assisting with the administration of the Early

Education:

Pathway to Your National Credential (Pathway) program, the CDA Assessment program, and other aspects of the Scholars for Excellence in Child Care scholarship. This position is funded by an annual contract between the Oklahoma State Regents and the Department of Human Services.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Analyze the direction of special projects for the technology centers.
  • Analyze the contract objectives associated with the Pathway program and CDA Assessment Scholarship.
  • Collect data needed for quarterly and annual reports.
  • Oversee the coordination of the Pathway program with technology centers statewide.
  • Oversee the process of identifying qualified individuals to become an instructor of the Pathway program with technology centers statewide.
  • Provide technical assistance to technology centers statewide regarding the Pathway program.
  • Provide training for the technology center staff on how to register Pathway coursework in for the Oklahoma Professional Development Registry/Statewide Training Calendar.
  • Facilitate the development of community partnerships to support the Pathway program at technology centers statewide.
  • Annually or as needed update the Pathway Guidebook for all the participating technology centers.
  • Plan and contribute to the Pathway curriculum updates to align with state initiatives and the national CDA Credential requirements
  • Serve on various program related committees.
  • Follow-up with scholars taking the Pathway courses.
  • Daily telephone contact with early care and education professionals concerning the Pathway program.
  • Liaison to business officers at technology centers.
  • Communicate effectively with adult education coordinators at area technology centers regarding scholarship program policies and procedures.
  • Liaison to the Oklahoma Tribal Child Care Association.
  • Review technology center invoices and process for payment.
  • Provide academic advisement to child care providers interested in technology center scholarship program and those wanting to pursue a CDA credential.
  • Review documentation and approve CDA Assessment Scholarship Applications submitted through the web-based application, Scholars Connect.
  • Daily phone contact with early care and education professional regarding the CDA assessment process.
  • Prepare and process payments to the Council for Professional Recognition for the CDA assessment scholarship.
  • Liaison to the Council for Professional Recognition
  • Other similar duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or related field and two (2) years’ experience in areas relevant to program management, or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work-related experience. Strong ability to effectively contribute, participate and communicate on committees related to this program with technology center coordinators, scholarship recipients, and other state agency partners. Excellent communication skills, writing ability, analytical skills, organizational skills, capability to work under pressure, and problem-solving.

Able to work in an environment that undergoes change and where duties are shared. The candidate must also be proficient in Word and Excel and have database applications experience. Some in-state travel is required. Some out-of-state travel if budgets allow.

The successful candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented environment where duties are shared and are subject to change.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior work experience as a scholar coordinator at a higher education institution. Prior knowledge of the National CDA Assessment Process.

Supervision

The employee performs work under the supervision of the Director of Special Programs.

Work Hours

Work Hours Agency offices are open to the public from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday. These are the normal office hours for Agency employees.
