DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under licensed professional engineer, works autonomously on various projects, particularly those with high complexity and/or risk. May oversee entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish non-routine tasks.
- Utilizes computer software to create detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for land development and site plans, including but not limited to building footprint, travel ways, parking, grading, utility design, drainage facilities and erosion control.
- Develops 3D models of projects using surfaces, horizontal alignments, vertical profiles, typical sections, and various design criteria.
- Calculates dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications and material quantities using calculator or computer.
- Ensures design products are complete, accurate, include the appropriate level of detail, align with client standards, and meet all relevant regulations and code requirements. Participates in and ensures QC/QA procedures are followed.
- Partners directly with clients to form an understanding of and to define project scope, constraints, and design requirements, and provides support through construction completion.
- Routinely reviews work of others to check for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clients’ specifications. Redlines production plans for correction prior to engineer design review.
- Assists engineers in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, schedules and permitting for projects
- Assists Department and Business Development team with preparation of client proposals by providing estimates of engineering resource requirements and identifying project milestones.
- Assists with building, maintaining, and managing client relationships.
- Provides technical support to other staff as trainer and mentor.
- Cooperates and coordinates with other engineers, designers, and technicians on project activities.
- Provides positive example to other team members of appearance, attitude, and behavior.
- Participates in internal and external project meetings as needed.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.

- Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver products that are complete, accurate, and include appropriate level of detail

- Minimum of eight years related civil design experience. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering studies or similar from college or technical school preferred.
- Possesses and applies broad knowledge of principles of design, construction, engineering, building regulations, and design platforms and software.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred.
- English language skills: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate clear, concise verbal and written messages in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in a professional manner.
- Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as…
