Product Engineer; ESP — Mechanical

Leads projects to develop new and/or improve products to meet customer requirements and develops new technologies for continued Valiant growth and financial success.

Job Type: Full-time

• Provide technical leadership in the design and development of AL and related pumping systems. Responsible for the design, integration, and compliance of the system to the design specifications.
• Perform detailed analysis relevant to electrical submersible and horizontal pumping systems and components, establish design practices and procedures.
• Develop and test new designs to implement new products or technologies into the product offerings when they prove financially beneficial to the immediate and long-term objectives of the organization.
• Monitor Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s), feedback from operations, failure analysis, warranty and sales request issues to identify potential product/technology improvement needs/opportunities; and collaborate with other business units to assess feasibility of new product/technology development projects.
• Manage expedited ECN’s through the company department requirements and approval process to capitalize on business opportunities to quickly get new/modified products to customers that meet company quality and financial standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to manufacture and procure prototype components to support cost effective sources of products that can enhance cost savings and the company’s product delivery capability.
• Collaborate with shop and lab personnel to assemble and test and improve prototype components or new processes for feasibility within the company.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and sales units to assist with potential sales and enhanced production technologies to assess improvements and business opportunities.
• Routinely work with drafters/designers to produce and update engineering drawings to assure that drawings and work instructions are current and support effective manufacturing standards.
• Continuously define, revise and improve engineering processes for improved quality and efficiency in responding to internal and external customer needs (e.g., reduce backlog and response time of ECN’s, improved tracking of tasks, implementing Lean tools).
• Comply with Company policy and procedures, including instructions and directions from individuals in direct supervisory positions.

• Education:
  
  A Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) is required for this position.
• Licenses:
  Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Experience:
  
  ESP engineering experience is required for this position.
• Skills/Knowledge:
  • Expertise in plastic and metal part design, including machined metal and sheet metal.
  • Expertise with design cycle from concept to manufacturing.
  • Solid Works fluency.
  • Expertise in GD&T, tolerance analysis, statistical analysis, design of experiments, FEA, thermal design, and fluid mechanics.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and ERP systems is preferred.
