Job Description & How to Apply Below
My client is at the forefront of new technology development within the cleantech sector. They are building novel hardware which is a cheaper and more efficient than current solutions in the space. They have recently completed their first deployable unit and are already starting on their next.
You should be as comfortable holding a soldering iron and probing circuits with an oscilloscope as you are working in simulation software.
Responsibilities- Rapidly prototype resonant converter topologies (LLC, dual active bridge, and beyond) for electrolysis systems
- Wind custom inductors and transformers using in-house CNC winding equipment, pushing the limits of magnetics design
- Troubleshoot high-voltage, high-frequency circuits in a lab environment, learning from each iteration
- Contribute to hardware bring-up, from breadboard to final product, working closely with mechanical and chemical engineers
- Take ownership of power-stage design, including PCB layout, thermal management, and EMI mitigation
- Architect and optimize LLC, dual active bridge, and other resonant converter topologies
- Simulate designs using LTSpice, PSpice, or Simulink and validate through lab testing
- Develop high-efficiency switch-mode power supply (SMPS) solutions
- Design high-voltage, high-side switching circuits
- Address EMI challenges and optimize multi-layer PCB layouts
- Design and wind custom transformers, inductors, and coils using CNC winding tools
- Evaluate core materials such as ferrite, amorphous, and nanocrystalline materials to optimize performance
- Conduct lab testing using oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
- Diagnose failures, refine designs, and iterate rapidly
- Design for reliable and safe operation, including heatsinks, airflow, insulation, and packaging
- Validate thermal performance through simulation and experimental testing
- Work closely with mechanical, chemical, and firmware engineering teams
- Clearly communicate complex electrical concepts to cross-disciplinary teams
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics focus preferred)
- Coursework or research in resonant power conversion, high-frequency design, or electrochemical systems is a plus
- 2–5+ years of experience in power electronics or power supply design
- Experience designing and testing SMPS, high-voltage circuits, and magnetics
- Comfortable working in both lab and manufacturing environments
- Experience taking products from prototype through certification (UL, CE) is a plus
- Proficiency in LTSpice, PSpice, or MATLAB Simulink
- PCB design experience using KiCad or Altium
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers
- Strong understanding of thermal design, EMI mitigation, and electrical safety
- Hands-on, hardware-focused mindset
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, early-stage environments
- Passionate about clean energy and technology development
- Work at the cutting edge of sustainable energy innovation.
- Access to in-house prototyping tools, including CNC winding equipment, enabling rapid iteration and hardware development.
- Experimentation is encouraged. The team embraces rapid learning through hands-on engineering.
- Your work will contribute directly to reducing carbon emissions and advancing clean energy technologies.
