The Project Manager will lead major water and wastewater projects and programs as part of the Water / Wastewater business leadership team, managing delivery of multi‑million dollar infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead major projects or programs from planning through construction, presenting updates to external client stakeholders and supporting decision‑making.
- Provide oversight of program schedule and budget using Black & Veatch’s internal processes and manage large inter‑discipline teams of internal and sub‑consultant resources.
- Lead a team delivering technical solutions in water supply intakes, pump stations, large‑diameter pipelines, tunnels, wastewater lift stations, force mains and collection systems, including condition assessment and rehabilitation.
- Recommend client processes, organization, and readiness for major programs and alternative project delivery.
- Support the team’s risk‑based assessments to develop and prioritize capital improvement programs.
- Provide project execution, quality control, and technical leadership for large water and wastewater projects and programs, identifying innovative solutions to maximize benefits to municipalities and utilities.
- Provide technical expertise to support marketing and business development, pursuit, proposal, and project interview activities.
- Work closely with Client Directors and the Area Director to develop relationships with clients and decision makers in Oklahoma.
- Mentor professionals and grow the team by identifying high‑quality candidates and recruits.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Oklahoma.
- 15+ years of relevant water engineering experience, including but not limited to water and wastewater infrastructure planning, asset management, CIP optimization, detailed design, and construction.
- Experience managing large water and wastewater programs and projects.
- Knowledge of local, federal, and state permitting requirements and funding mechanisms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort in a client‑facing role discussing technical topics and solutions.
- Experience providing input and oversight of technical tasks and project teams performing studies and assessments of water and wastewater projects.
- Proficient with report writing and PowerPoint presentations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both within a team and independently.
- Willing and able to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
