PEMB Estimator – Metal Building Systems Specialist

BC Steel Buildings is seeking an experienced PEMB Estimator to join our team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a candidate with direct Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) estimating experience who can independently develop accurate building quotations, analyze construction documents, and support our sales and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has experience using Metal Building Software (MBS), understands PEMB systems and components, and has a proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive quotations.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated PEMB estimating capability.

The PEMB Estimator is responsible for reviewing project documents, developing complete building quotations, and supporting the sales process from initial inquiry through project award.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are accurately scoped, competitively priced, and aligned with customer requirements. The successful candidate must be capable of independently estimating PEMB projects and serving as a technical resource for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Review architectural drawings, structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents
• Analyze project requirements and determine applicable building systems
• Develop complete PEMB quotations utilizing Metal Building Software (MBS)
• Prepare material takeoffs and pricing calculations
• Evaluate loading requirements, code requirements, and project‑specific design criteria
• Coordinate with engineering, drafting, project management, manufacturing, and sales teams
• Develop value‑engineering solutions when appropriate
• Review and compare vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Prepare proposal packages and bid documentation
• Respond to technical questions from customers and internal departments
• Support sales personnel during project development and customer negotiations
• Maintain estimating records and project files
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating accuracy and efficiency

• Minimum three (3) years of direct estimating experience within the PEMB industry
• Experience using Metal Building Software (MBS)
• Strong understanding of pre‑engineered metal building systems and components
• Ability to independently develop complete building quotations
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural construction documents
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

• Five (5)+ years of PEMB estimating experience
• Experience with MBS XL or other PEMB‑specific software platforms
• Previous experience working for a PEMB manufacturer
• Knowledge of ASCE loading requirements and applicable building codes
• Experience with cranes, mezzanines, insulation systems, and specialty building applications
• Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related education

• Accurate and timely project quotations
• Minimal estimating errors and revisions
• Strong collaboration with project management, engineering, drafting, manufacturing, and sales teams
• Ability to independently manage workload and priorities
• Continuous improvement of estimating processes and efficiency
