Strong project managers are essential to our success. We’re looking for a project manager to lead some of the industry's best engineers while executing highly technical, complex engineering water projects.
It takes many skills to manage projects in the engineering industry, from forming and maintaining great relationships with clients and partners, to successfully delivering projects, to staying in step with current and future regulations, to actively seeking out the next project. We are looking for experienced project managers to join our growing South Water region.

Our South Water team is a dynamic group that focus on the planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater projects for municipal and industrial clients, spanning treatment, distribution, collection, and more. Our project managers are a vital part of our leadership team that have an active role in developing others and shaping the types of projects we pursue. We are looking for project managers with technical backgrounds in planning, design, and/or construction.

- Coach and mentor other professionals to shape future leaders.
- Provide leadership and guidance on all aspects of multi‑discipline engineering projects from concept to completion, including safety, quality, risk, engineering, procurement, construction, environmental compliance, and financials.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project life cycle.
- Leverage and create client relationships, focus on repeat work within each client account.
- Support business strategy for developing new business opportunities.
- Identify and position Burns & McDonnell for upcoming projects and opportunities.
- Provide guidance as part of the sales team for furthering the company’s position in the industry through events, conferences, and contacts.
- Provide industry feedback or trends to the water leadership team.
- Provide mentorship, formal and informal training for the project team.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field from an accredited program.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience (15 years preferred) in design engineering; previous consulting and project management experience preferred.
- Professional registration in the state of Texas (ability to obtain Texas registration acceptable).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail.
- Ability to devise new approaches to problems encountered.
- Capable of working in a fast‑paced, demanding environment, willing to work overtime on short notice.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a multi‑disciplined project team to resolve design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
