Position: Staff Exploration Geologist

Job Summary

Continental Resources is seeking a Staff Exploration Geologist with a proven track record of prospect generation, play fairway analysis and asset development experience in unconventional and conventional reservoirs. This position will generate new exploration prospects and expand and develop existing plays, supporting field development through interpretation of well logs, scout tickets, and other geological data.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate and interpret multiple geologic, petrophysical, and geophysical parameters into a concise geologic model.
  • Utilize surface and subsurface geotechnical data to generate geologic models through log correlation, cross‑section construction, strati graphic analysis, basic petrophysical analysis, and basic to advanced mapping techniques to characterize petroleum systems and high‑graded play fairways.
  • Participate in strategic peer review sessions to present and refine interpretations and technical analysis for technically vetted, high‑quality exploration prospects.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of geoscientists, engineers, and land and commercial teams to assess strategic opportunities and emerging plays, developing a portfolio of investment opportunities.
  • Effectively utilize advanced geotechnical software tools in the interpretation process.
  • Convey technical findings through oral presentations and written reports to upper management and peer review presentations.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced geoscientists.
  • Work collaboratively in a multi‑disciplined environment incorporating a wide variety of data from various sources to develop a team‑driven interpretation.
  • Communicate strategy, recommendations, and execution plans for capital programs regarding project funding, data capture, and testing plans.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of exploration wells, subsurface data‑gathering programs, and the integration of industry best practices and latest technology.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Geoscience or Earth Sciences from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of recent experience with an active exploration and production company.
  • Acceptable pre‑employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Geoscience or Earth Sciences from an accredited university or college.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
