Position Responsibilities (Level2)
- Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
- Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
- Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
- Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities.
- Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
- Supports cross-functional teams to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.
- Works under general supervision.

- Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
- Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
- Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
- Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities.
- Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
- Directs cross-functional teams to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.
- Works under general direction.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical and/or structural design
- 2+ years of experience creating, executing, reviewing, and managing structural design models
- 2+ years of experience working on conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables
- 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- 2+ years of experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5, Solid Works, Siemens NX)
- 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance
- Experience validating or verifying structural models
- Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
- Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures, secondary structures, interior payloads
- UPR/MRB experience in commercial derivative platforms
- Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
