Position: Air Quality Engineer/Scientist — Jr to Mid Level (DoD)

- Mid-Level Air Quality Environmental Scientist/Engineer

Tetra Tech, Inc., an industry leader and nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm, is seeking a motivated intelligent, and experienced professional for a Jr or Mid-Level Air Quality Environmental Scientist/Engineer position. Work location is at Tinker Air Force Base, OK.
Candidates must be a US citizen due to the clients we serve.

Responsibilities
  • Support client, senior staff and on-site technical leads through data collection, analysis, and development of reports in support of Air Quality (AQ) environmental programs for federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Support Department of Defense, Tinker Air Force Base Air Quality Program to include:
    • Perform Title V Permit compliance inspections of maintenance shops and emission sources and writing summary reports for completed inspections
    • Development of the annual air emissions inventory
    • Support the development of Greenhouse Gas Inventories and reporting
    • Potential to emit calculations
    • Clean Air Act Cost of Compliance Assessment
    • Air conformity analyses
    • Air quality sampling and analysis, including visual emissions evaluations (VEE)
    • Support the review/update of Clean Air Act Risk Management Plan
    • Support the review/update of the Air Quality Compliance Plan
    • Assist with NSR, PSD, and Title V permitting
  • Performs technical writing for review/approval by senior level personnel.
  • Performs HAZMAT data evaluations to determine compliance with NESHAP requirements.
  • Supports AQ records management through data log collection, review and APIMS data entry.
  • Coordinates with installation personnel on the scheduling of inspections and testing.
  • Data review, option evaluation, applicability review, and recommendation of best results for review by senior staff.
  • Supports senior staff regarding client interaction and presentation of options and results.
  • Assist in the production of deliverables.
  • Coordinate and work with personnel in other program areas (storage tanks, storm water, wastewater, hazardous material, hazardous waste, etc.) to ensure the installation meets environmental requirements.

Technical report writing, data analysis and client interaction are regular requirements associated with this position. Periodically there are requirements to present project findings to a client and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the United States Air Force or other DoD organizations preferred.
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma Air Quality rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to air quality issues in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Ability to interact and communicate directly with the client and provide options and results of deliverables.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain VEE Method 9 Certification.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line driver’s license.
  • Excellent communications, technical report writing, fact and research finding.
  • Sampling, field work, using measuring instruments, data analyses and reporting.
  • Computer skills, MS Excel, Word, ACCESS, adobe.
  • Must be able to obtain a government security clearance and Common Access Card (CAC).
Education & Experience

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Studies, or related field. 0-5 years of air quality experience in Oklahoma is preferred.

Performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and adverse weather conditions; moving about and remaining stationary to facilitate operation of the equipment and collecting samples; moving earth via shovels or hand augers; lifting pumps, other remediation equipment, cases containing equipment, sample coolers and other items weighing between 1 and 50 pounds; and potential exposure to natural (e.g., poison ivy), physical and chemical hazards.
