Role OverviewThe Hot Section Engineering Mechanical Design team seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably with exhaust experience; nozzle experience preferred; any experience with turbo machinery may be appropriate. The Engineer will work with other disciplines of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) including project, structures, durability, aero‑thermal, and product definition. Leadership skills, rotor design experience, and a passion for the mission are valued.
Responsibilities- Lead interaction with other Hot Section Engineering IPTs.
- Lead resolution of mechanical engineering problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with some supervisor oversight.
- Enable and sustain the efficient use of Outsourcing via technical review and oversight.
- Establish and maintain trust with internal and external customers by executing tasks with robust technical solutions.
- Work with our Customer Technical Support (CTS) team to respond to customer questions, review deteriorated hardware, update engine maintenance manual limits, and lead timely resolution of field event root cause analyses.
- Support Operations and collaborate with Engineering Support Teams to address production and sustainment issues to facilitate the timely delivery of engines.
- Process technically sound engineering changes within program schedule that meet performance metrics such as cost, weight, and part life.
- Travel up to 10%.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 2+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience
- 2+ years of experience with hardware, blueprints, dimensions & tolerances, and/or manufacturing methods including experience with GD&T.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as a consistent record of demonstrating collaboration, innovation, and initiative.
- Aircraft engine experience including the design, development, manufacture, testing and/or maintenance of jet engine compressors or turbines.
- Proficiency in Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, ANSYS, and classical methods of analysis.
