Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s (BDS) is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our System Safety Engineering Team in Oklahoma City, OK.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid‑Level (Level
3), Senior (Level
4), or Lead (Level
5) System Safety Engineers.

As a System Safety Engineer, you will work across the entire program lifecycle, from conceptual development into design and test, production, and sustainment of fielded aircraft for both USG and International customers. We are looking for candidates that can ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking, and identify potential hazards to our aircraft and crew.
You’ll have the opportunity to interface with all levels of Engineering and Program Management as well as our customers.

Primary responsibilities- Conduct system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in‑service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantify impact.
- Identify safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommend corrective actions using industry best practices.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporate into designs, operations, and procedures.
- Perform or review tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.
- Create and maintain aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.
- Document safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.
- Develop and maintain safety and corrective action plans.
- Assist with demonstrating safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to the customer and regulators.
- Ensure mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.
- Contribute to establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
- 1+ years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering.
- 1+ years of experience working across organizations and cross‑functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation and completion.
- Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level 5: 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with SAE Standard ARP
4754A, RTCA DO-178 or DO-254. - Experience with the system safety requirements of Mil‑Std‑882 and SAE ARP
4761/4754.
