Role Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Cyber Systems Engineer (Principal or Senior Principal Level) to join our Systems Engineering organization. The position focuses on System Security Engineering across all phases of a system’s acquisition and development lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on Program Protection, Supply Chain Risk Management, and Counterfeit Parts Prevention.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage experience in Program Protection, Supply Chain Risk Management, and supply chain vulnerability assessment.
  • Develop and update Program Protection Implementation Plan(s), Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) plans, and Counterfeit Prevention Plan(s).
  • Conduct supply chain vulnerability and risk assessments, document findings, and recommend mitigations.
  • Develop and refine Hardware/Software Bill of Materials and perform Criticality Analysis of system components.
  • Monitor system changes impacted through the supply chain and review system vulnerability scans and mitigation reports.
  • Support inquiries into and auditing of suppliers.
  • Apply systems security engineering methodologies and techniques.
  • Prepare technical documents, briefings, and support ongoing authorization efforts.
  • Develop procedures and work in a fast‑changing, dynamic environment with minimal direction.
  • Provide technical leadership in Program Protection, Supply Chain Risk Management, and Counterfeit Parts Prevention planning activities.
  • Collaborate with Agile Development teams and interface with cyber functional areas, internal management, and executives to ensure effective program execution and mission assurance.
  • Act as a technical liaison and/or external spokesperson.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with at least 8 years of relevant military or professional experience (Principal Level), or Master’s with at least 6 years, or Ph.D. with at least 4 years. The same criteria apply for Senior Principal Level.
  • Experience with U.S. Government System Security Engineering activities including security requirements engineering, risk assessment and management, secure architecture design, implementation, and verification.
  • Experience developing, executing, and managing Program Protection, Supply Chain Risk, and Counterfeit Parts Prevention plans, and performing Criticality Analysis of system components.
  • Experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), development of System Security Plans, Assessment Reports, attack path modeling, and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience providing oversight and guidance to junior engineers and various Integrated Product Teams and contractors.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret or higher clearance; clearance background investigation completed within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Valid DoDI 8140.01 security certification such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or similar network/security certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with embedded computing environments and technologies.
  • Experience with cloud computing environments and technologies.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as Cameo.
  • Familiarity with DoDI 5000.02, DODI 5200.44, DoDI 5000.83, NIST SP 800‑161, and DoD Program Protection Plan guidance.
  • Experience applying agile methodologies to develop cybersecurity capabilities for embedded systems.
  • Experience writing technical proposals and working on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Government Anti‑Tamper processes and implementations.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance including SSBI.
