Systems Engineer

Job Summary

Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems, working as an individual contributor on a multi‑disciplinary Engineering team. Responsibilities include conducting research, developing requirements, modeling, defining interfaces, and performing analysis within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure to advance new program requirements and modernize existing systems. The role collaborates across disciplines and with internal and external stakeholders.

• Perform requirements development, allocation, verification/validation planning, and manage interface definition efforts.
• Write complex specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports.
• Support interface and communication with program, functional, and subsystem leads.
• Maintain Systems Engineering artifacts following proper configuration management procedures.
• Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure proper verification and validation of Systems Engineering artifacts.
• Possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills with excellent communication abilities to support coordination across IPTs and with external customers.
• Solicit input from various stakeholders and team members to synthesize data and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant military or professional experience, OR Master’s degree in a STEM field and some relevant military, professional, or academic experience.
• Active US Government Secret or higher clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time as determined by business needs.
• Experience with military aircraft or weapon system design and/or operation, including requirements verification and certification.
• Experience interpreting, deriving, allocating, or managing technical requirements.
• Experience with DOORS.

• Experience with Python or other scripting language.
• Experience with requirement decomposition and traceability from system to unit/supplier specifications.
• Experience with software development.
• Experience with hardware/software integration testing.
• Experience with Agile execution.
• Experience with managing suppliers with technical requirements and verification expectations.
• Experience with DOORS DXL and DOORS administration.
• Experience with Cameo.
• Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment software development for aircraft sustainment efforts.

$75,100.00 - $

9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off, health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, paid time off (vacation and personal business), and opportunities for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses.
