Job Title
Senior Power Electronics Engineer
Job PurposeThis role will support the development of DC/DC converters and onboard chargers for both current and future product needs. It will focus on designing best‑in‑class DC/DC converters and onboard chargers for efficiency, space, mass, and cost, while working with other power electronics products within the High Voltage Group.
Responsibilities- Develop and support the development of architectures and select topologies for DC/DC converter and onboard charger designs.
- Design, develop, analyze and test DC/DC converters and onboard chargers.
- Specify control and power components such as gate drivers, sensing devices, power supplies, capacitors, magnetic components, filters, busbars, and other related elements.
- Support schematic capture and guide the design and layout of printed circuits and substrates for control, sensing, power supplies, and gate drivers.
- Support verification and validation testing to confirm DC/DC converter and onboard charger functionality and performance.
- Support integration, operation, and testing of DC/DC converters and onboard chargers in various vehicle platforms.
- Support vehicle manufacturing and Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of experience in power electronics.
- Knowledge of power electronics electrical design or relevant coursework.
- Familiarity with power electronics control and power components.
- Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, programmable power supplies, function generators, power analyzers, and electronic loads.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with DC/DC converter and/or onboard charger architecture, topologies, design, and test.
- Familiarity with digital control implementations.
- Knowledge of silicon and wide bandgap semiconductors.
- Experience with design optimization for EMC/EMI performance.
- Familiarity with schematic capture and layout tools.
- Up to 25% domestic or international travel, depending on job location.
