Skill Bridge Program Overview

Northrop Grumman is an approved Skill Bridge Program under DoDI 1322.29. The program provides service members preparing for civilian careers with up to 6 months of on‑site training at Northrop Grumman (180 days).

Skill Bridge Program Responsibilities
  • Work on site with a host company, gaining experience in an entry to mid‑level career path.
  • Perform job‑training supporting a 40‑hour workweek schedule.
  • Provide professional development, networking, and training focused on Northrop Grumman leadership principles, company history, and core job responsibilities.
Principal / Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer Responsibilities
  • Research, design, development, integration, and testing of electronic equipment (power generation, communications, flight controls, networks, radar, navigation, weapons systems, etc.).
  • Maintain complex circuitry components, analog and digital computers, LRU/SRUs.
  • Report technical status, challenges, impacts, and mitigations to Chief Engineers, EI&E Directors, and Program Management.
  • Act as Responsible Engineer, supplier technical interface, and focal Avionics representative for integration support.
  • Oversee and mentor other engineers to achieve technical performance objectives.
  • Maintain awareness of activities within and across contracts to ensure adherence to development, sustainment, hardware design, and qualification activities.
  • Provide technical status and assessment to program leadership and customers.
  • Support assessment of cost and schedule impacts of technical decisions.
  • Ensure program adherence to processes, best practices, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering and program management to meet program statement of work and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Technical Review Board regarding change packages.
  • Support technical interchange meetings and assist in resolving engineering challenges.
  • Coordinate across programs and functions for operational gains.
  • Comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Principal Electronics Engineer (level3):
    Bachelor’s in a STEM discipline + 5years experience, or Master’s +3years, or PhD +1year.
  • Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer (level4):
    Bachelor’s +8years, or Master’s +6years, or PhD +4years.
  • Strong understanding of electronics systems.
  • Knowledge of qualification and environmental testing required for flight equipment.
  • Familiarity with Nuclear, EMI, Reliability, and Logistics technical disciplines.
  • Airborne platform integration requirements experience.
  • Active US Government Secret clearance (background investigation within past6years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of nuclear and radiation hardening requirements and testing.
  • Experience with Lab View or other data collection and electronic modeling tools.
  • Existing Special Access Program clearance.
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance within 5years of last investigation.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value and Cost Account Management principles.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
Salary Range

Primary Level: $93,300.00–$.

Secondary Level: $–$.
