Basic Purpose Positions in this family are responsible for planning, supervising and performing technical and professional work in an environmental quality, environmental management or environmental health protection program. This may include performing inspections, surveys, and investigations, reviewing and approving federal grants, providing consultative services, case management, and ensuring compliance with environmental laws. Specialty areas may include biology, health, geology, hydrology, and environmental science.
Typical Functions The functions performed in this job family will vary by level, unit and organization, but may include the following:
Providing stormwater technical assistance to all field liaisons
Conducting stormwater inspections as requested
Performing general stormwater reviews
Assisting with the review of the Approved Products List and researching erosion and sediment control products
Writing special provisions
Developing and delivering presentations/educational opportunities
Evaluating lists of permitted activities
Contributing to the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit implementation process
Reviewing Section 404 permits/requests for project activities
Level Descriptor Level IThis is the basic level of this job family where employees are assigned duties and responsibilities in a training status to build their skills in conducting investigations, performing basic professional analysis, and interpreting state and federal laws.
