Position Summary
The Senior Environmental Specialist provides advanced technical expertise in identifying, assessing, and resolving complex environmental compliance issues in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role leads environmental analyses and compliance initiatives, reviews technical and regulatory documentation, and provides guidance to project teams and junior staff. The Senior Environmental Specialist serves as a subject-matter resource for environmental programs, risk assessments, audits, regulatory reviews, and senior-level reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities- Lead and oversee environmental assessments, analyses, field investigations, and compliance activities to identify environmental impacts, risks, and regulatory concerns.
- Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including RCRA, CWA, CAA, NEPA, and applicable agency-specific requirements.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental compliance, monitoring, mitigation, and remediation programs.
- Review technical reports, permits, assessments, plans, and regulatory documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and subject-matter expertise to project teams, clients, and junior environmental staff.
- Support complex environmental permitting, regulatory coordination, compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Evaluate environmental findings and recommend appropriate corrective actions, mitigation measures, or compliance strategies.
- Prepare and review technical reports, regulatory correspondence, briefings, and environmental documentation for senior staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to resolve environmental issues and ensure project requirements are met.
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical review and guidance to promote consistent, high-quality environmental work products.

Skills and Abilities
- Active and valid driver’s license maintained throughout employment
- Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations, including RCRA, CWA, CAA, NEPA, and applicable state and local requirements.
- Ability to independently interpret complex regulatory requirements and develop practical compliance strategies.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced technical writing, document review, and regulatory reporting skills.
- Ability to lead environmental projects and provide technical direction to junior staff.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and professional judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Resources, or a related scientific or technical field. - Required:
Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible professional experience in environmental compliance, assessment, permitting, remediation, or a related environmental field. - Required:
Experience leading environmental projects, reviewing technical deliverables, and providing technical guidance or mentorship to other environmental professionals. - Required:
Experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including RCRA, CWA, CAA, NEPA, and other applicable requirements. - Preferred:
