Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer provides foundational technical support within the production environment, including design, improve, and sustain manufacturing processes that meet organizational KPI’s and goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role assists with APQP deliverables, participates in change management activities, and supports process improvements. While not an owner of these systems, the Manufacturing Engineer I contributes through accurate documentation, data gathering, and execution of assigned tasks.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining APQP documentation such as process flows, control plans, PFMEAs, and change records.
  • Support preparation of engineering change documentation, basic risk assessments, and routing for approvals.
  • Participate in cross-functional reviews by gathering data, updating documents, and supporting communication between engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain.
  • Active daily Gemba participation.
  • Assist in identifying process waste and participate in Lean activities such as value stream mapping, Kaizen events, and structured problem‑solving exercises.
  • Support capital project activities by collecting data, preparing simple cost‑benefit inputs, and assisting with implementation tasks.
  • Track cost savings for all improvement and capital projects using a structured, auditable methodology.
  • Design, develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for quality, throughput, and equipment performance issues.
  • Develop and implement tooling, fixtures, jigs, and automation solutions to improve safety, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Support new product introduction by helping prepare documentation, verifying manufacturability requirements, and assisting with process readiness tasks.
  • Perform basic statistical data collection, capability studies, and workflow observations to support process improvement.
  • Assist in equipment specification development, installation planning, validation activities, and performance monitoring.
  • Support safety initiatives by identifying hazards, implementing engineering controls, and ensuring compliance with EHS requirements.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Foundational exposure to:
  • APQP concepts and structured launch processes.
  • Change management or document control systems.
  • Lean, TPS, or Six Sigma principles.
  • CAD modeling and drafting.
  • Basic troubleshooting and process improvement methods.
  • ERP/MRP systems and production documentation.
  • Manufacturing codes (ASME BPVC, ASME SA249, ASME B31, UL/ISO/JIS) with ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong organization, planning, and analytical problem solving skills and the ability to actively engage with all levels of the organization.
    Demonstrated ability to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance on complex or cross‑functional issues.
Performance Measures
  • Timely and accurate support of APQP deliverables (PFMEA, control plans, process flows) and change management activities.
  • Demonstrated contributions to waste identification and measurable reductions.
  • Effective support of capital project development and execution within defined budgets and timelines.
