Field Service Engineer I
The Field Service Engineer I is an entry-level role for someone starting their career in on-site medical imaging service. Working under close supervision, this position assists with troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of high-end medical imaging systems while building foundational field service skills. The focus is on learning the industry and applying documented processes and safety standards, with issues outside scope escalated to senior engineers or the Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting imaging systems and equipment under supervision
- Support repair of issues with imaging applications, electrical components, hardware, and networking
- Support system relocations, installations, and de-installations
- Perform system inspections, preventative maintenance, calibrations, and QA checks
- Follow service manuals and schematics for accurate, consistent work
- Document all work performed per ISO quality and regulatory standards
- Escalate out-of-scope issues appropriately
- Maintain professional interactions with radiologists, technicians, and physicians
Requirements
- AS/AA in Electronics, Electromechanical Technology, Computer Science, Biomedical Technology, or equivalent military training preferred
- 0–2 years field service or technical experience; entry-level welcomed
- Prior exposure to imaging modalities a plus
- Foundational electronics/electrical/computer hardware knowledge
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
- Clear written/verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office; ERP knowledge a plus
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record
Travel & Schedule
- Up to 75% travel required
- On-call rotation after training
Physical & Environmental
- Frequent standing, walking, occasional lifting (25–50 lbs)
- Use of hand/power tools, ESD protection, and PPE as needed
- Potential exposure to radiation, electrical hazards, and blood borne pathogens; OSHA and safety compliance required
